Dancers

As I was working on the paintings in the Leapers show I started to think about dancers, especially when I looked at the high jumper paintings, which struck me as sort of dance like. This led me to seeking out a dance troupe that would allow me to photograph them as they rehearsed as the first step in creating a series of paintings. Fortunately, through a friend of a friend, I connected with Boulder Ballet. The first two sets of paintings below are a result of that collaboration. The first set is from Within/Without, choreographed by Andra Schermoly. The second se is from The Vanishing, choreographed by Claudia Anata Hubiak.

Following on from my connection to Boulder Ballet I also collaborated with Frequent Flyers Aerial Dance, exploring this newer and interesting dance form. The third set of paintings below are from that connection from a rehearsal of Dance Me to the End of Love, Choreographed and performed by Valerie Morris and Michelle Randolph.

You can look at the pictures individually, by selecting one of the thumbnail versions below, or scan through the whole series by selecting Next in the navaigation bar to the left to go through the paintings in order.
